Favara preserves one of most important testimonies of the ancient Sicani settlements in Sicily.

Sicana population inhabited the island already in 3rd millennium BC.

The territory hosted a prehistoric village, its presence is evidenced by the discovering of some tombs, in whom were found vases dated back to 2400 and 1900 BC

However the most relevant testimony of the presence of this population is the Contrada Stefano's necropolis.

The archeological ruins attest that the necropolis was used even between IV and VI century AC.
