Molino a Vento
Gela Gela CL
The Acropolis of Gela, placed on a hill, dominated the fertile plain. On the western side of the hill there was the Necropolis.
The Acropolis, until 405 BC, housed the main religious buildings of the city from which come the architectural decorations and stone ornaments preserved in the Museum of Gela.
Inside the Acropolis, in the so called "Parco delle Rimembranze", the remains of a Doric style temple were found.
Further west, a beautiful Doric temple was discovered. It is dedicated to the Greek goddess of science Athena.
